The Wales and the World outreach project is a bold new initiative that seeks to contribute to the educational and artistic landscape of Wales by inspiring creativity and cultural literacy.
A collaboration between Swansea University's Department of English Literature and Creative Writing and Cultural Institute, and working with a range of external organisations, the programme reflects on Wales' cultural legacy within a global context and draws on Swansea University's world-leading expertise in Anglophone Welsh literature to provide a variety of free resources:
- writing workshops for adult learners and the general public
- educational resources for pupils and teachers
- curriculum-themed panels and performances
- online creative spaces and conversations for all

Meet the team:
Kirsti Bohata is Professor of English Literature and Co-Director of CREW, the Centre for Research into the English Literature and Language of Wales, at Swansea University. She is currently working on LGBTQ literature from Wales and recently published Disability in Industrial Britain: A cultural and literary history of impairment in the coal industry, 1880–1948 (Manchester University Press, 2020)
Dr Eoin Price is Senior Lecturer in English Literature at Swansea University. He specializes in Shakespeare and the drama of the sixteenth and seventeenth essays. With Prof. Farah Karim-Cooper (Shakespeare's Globe) he is the co-editor of a special issue of Shakespeare on race and nation emerging from the British Shakespeare Association Conference he organized at Swansea in 2019.
Dr Elaine Canning is Head of Cultural Engagement and Development at Swansea University’s Cultural Institute and Executive Officer and a Director of the Swansea University Dylan Thomas Prize. Her external roles include membership of British Council Wales' Advisory Committee as well as collaboration with the Jaipur Literature Festival, India.
Ashish Dwivedi is an Indian poet, currently pursuing an MPhil in English Literature at Swansea University. He has been the 'Literature' and 'Creative Writing' editor of Waterfront, Swansea University, and possesses a rather fascinating interest in Cartoons & Utopian Studies, Tragic and Hybrid Poetry, Indian Stage Aesthetics, and Retro Hindi Cinema.
Dr Kamand Kojouri has published two poetry books: God, Does Humanity Exist? (2020) and The Eternal Dance (2018). She completed an MA in creative writing at City, University of London, a PhD at Swansea University, and is currently writing a feminist historical novel that explores loss, identity and the silences of history.
Sophie Apps is a second-year English Literature student at Swansea University and is hoping to study for an MA in her subject. She aspires to be the next Emily Dickinson, running her own blog 'Poetry | FilmingPoetry'. In her spare time, she writes for Swansea University's student paper Waterfront, Spiela and is currently working on a 'Filming Poetry' project that brings her words to life.
