Studying Welsh at Swansea University offers a unique opportunity to study the language through an international lens, considering Welsh’s relationship within a global context through its culture and literature.
There is a long tradition of studying Welsh at Swansea, that stretches back to the University opening in 1920, and today, lecturers in Welsh here at Swansea have expertise in sociolinguistics, creative writing, literary theory, translation and law and policy.
Students who have graduated from the Department have gone on to enjoy exciting, successful careers in education, local government, translation, the media, the publishing industry, business, and many other fields.
