Hapus – A Guide for Parents, Partners and Guardians
Hapus is an online course that will provide you with an overview of the mental, emotional and practical challenges your student may face whilst at university, and issues you may face yourself during this time.
We understand that the transition into and through university life can be challenging for both students and their parents, partners and guardians. This guide aims to provide you with the knowledge and tools to support your student through these challenges and offers advice on looking after yourself.
The guide deals with topics such as;
- Life skills
- Mental and physical health
- Sexual health and consent
- Safety
- Keeping in touch
- Specific support for student groups such as international students and mature students
- Culture shock
- Empty nest syndrome
- How to contact the university if you have concerns about your student
- Information on all the support services available at Swansea University
We recommend that you work through the toolkit before your student arrives in Swansea, but it will be useful at any time of year. It will take around half an hour. You can access the course here, and it is available in English and Welsh.
We have also created a course for students, so please encourage your student to complete this before they arrive at university.
If you encounter any technical issues when using this guide please contact welcome.campuslife@swansea.ac.uk.
