Join our Thriving Research Community of PhD and MPhil students
The School of Management provides a supportive and friendly environment for our thriving community of doctoral students from all over the world.
Our PhD and MPhil students work closely with, and are supported by the School's academic staff, and have exclusive use of our postgraduate research (PGR) suite and access to kitchen facilities.
During your studies you will also benefit from a comprehensive training programme which includes courses on topics such as literature reviews, research tools, methodologies, and presenting at conferences. Students also receive a PGR allowance to support specific training requirements and other research development activities, in addition to having the opportunity to apply for paid teaching opportunities during the course of their studies.
Apply for a Postgraduate Research Degree
Step 1: Choose your postgraduate research degree.
Step 2: Prepare a detailed research proposal, bringing together your ideas into a coherent form. Guidance on writing a research proposal is available.
You may also want to consider identifying a potential supervisor from our academic staff list, many of whom are globally recognised leaders in their field.
Please note: It is advisable that you contact us before submitting your application. We can assist you to identify appropriate supervisors and, if necessary, work with you to refine your proposal.
Step 3: Apply. When you have completed your research proposal, you can apply online.
The School provides opportunities to participate in its PGR Committee or become a PGR rep. These initiatives are designed to empower students so that they can have their voice heard in any decision-making that may affect them.
We also run an annual PGR conference, giving students the opportunity to present their work and receive feedback from their peers. There are also various research seminar programmes which students can attend and participate in.
