The Academic Partnership Department facilitates, on behalf of Swansea University, the development, growth, delivery and oversight of quality and sustainable academic partnerships, by providing a professional, reliable and effective support service. We have established links with reputable external organisations, universities and institutions in Wales, the UK, Europe and overseas.
We bring together institutions and organisations from around the world to create and develop innovative international programmes, collaborations, and strategic partnerships with world-class universities. The international partnerships include those with Grenoble Alpes, University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, Houston Methodist Research Institute, Paris Sorbonne, University of Cape Town, Aarhus University and Auckland University of Technology, to name a few. Bringing Universities Together
These global partnerships deliver impactful collaborative research, innovative programmes for students, opportunities for staff development and mobility, and enhanced student skills and employability.
The University's International Strategic Partnerships with Grenoble Alpes University and Texas - which include collaborations in research and teaching, joint degrees, staff and student exchange across all subject areas - have been highlighted as examples of best practice within the sector.
The innovative degrees include Joint PhDs, the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Master’s degrees and Validation Arrangements, through which students can qualify for degrees of Swansea University. Two interesting models of collaboration include a ‘flying faculty’ arrangement with Chinese Universities and a Dual Degree with the University of Trent, Canada. The portfolio of degrees offered through partnership work include, work based bachelor degrees delivered by further education colleges in Wales.
