Postgraduate Studies with Welsh-medium provision

The University is fully committed to ensuring all opportunities for students wishing to study the Postgraduate Certificate of Education course through the medium of Welsh for all subject routes. You can study at least 80 credits of this course through the medium of Welsh. There will be opportunities to receive lectures, training, assignments and mentoring in Welsh. The University also works closely with a number of Welsh Secondary schools, as well as specific Welsh medium schools, such as; Ysgol y Strade, Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr, Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe and Ysgol Gymraeg Ystalyfera Bro Dur.

A number of University departments are currently developing and offering Welsh-medium or bilingual modules as part of their courses so discuss the possibilities with the Program Director. In principle it is possible to submit a dissertation and receive support to study through the medium of Welsh through work in Part 2 of the degree on the programmes below. Students who choose to study a qualifying course in science, technology, engineering, maths or medicine can also receive an additional bursary of £2,000.

Academi Hywel Teifi Welsh-medium Scholarships and Bursaries 

Academi Hywel Teifi's Welsh-medium Scholarships and Bursaries scheme is open to students who have already chosen to come to Swansea University and who choose to study through the medium of Welsh where there is an opportunity, rather than through English. Hywel Teifi Memorial Scholarship

The Hywel Teifi Memorial Scholarship is available for Welsh-medium postgraduate students who want to study a Master's degree by Research, MPhil or PhD in a field related to the late Professor Hywel Teifi Edwards' contribution to Welsh learning and culture, areas such as Welsh literature, the Welsh language, Media, Politics or History.

Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)

Students studying a full-time or part-time Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) can get funding to help with the costs of the course, providing all Student Finance eligibility criteria is met. 

Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) courses attract the same funding as an undergraduate degree course. Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Research Scholarship Scheme

The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Research Scholarship Scheme supports students studying for a doctorate through the medium of Welsh. Recent doctoral scholarships jointly funded by Coleg Cymraeg and Swansea University include the fields of Psychology, Translation, Welsh, Chemistry and Biomedical Sciences.
