Dr. Jishnu Bhattacharyya is a Lecturer (Research Pathway) in Marketing at Swansea University's School of Management. He obtained his PhD in Marketing from the University of Nottingham and previously held the position of Project Scientist at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. Prior to moving to the University of Nottingham, he participated in research coursework in the marketing area at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode.
Dr. Bhattacharyya's research portfolio encompasses a broad range of interconnected domains, including sustainability communication, sustainable consumption, digital marketing (with a particular emphasis on social bots), decision-making under uncertainty (psychological state), human–robot interaction (notably in the context of service failures), and the psychology of human–computer interactions, particularly augmented reality. His scholarly endeavours are driven by a commitment to integrating rigorous research with pedagogical practice and leveraging the discipline of marketing to foster positive societal change. He is a staunch advocate for data-centric, analytics-enabled, and evidence-based approaches to marketing.
Dr. Bhattacharyya has received several awards, including the University of Nottingham Tri-Campus Postgraduate Prize, Best Paper Award, Most Impactful Paper Award, Excellent Oral Presentation Award, Best Poster Presentation Award, and Emerald Literati Awards. His research has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Travel Research and the Journal of Business Research, and his work has been presented at major academic conferences, including those hosted by the European Marketing Academy (EMAC) and the Australian and New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC). He is actively seeking PhD students with an interest in any facet of marketing, preferably those whose research aligns with his specific areas of interest.
