As a researcher, Rey is highly interested in shedding light on the nature of contemporary forms of work and employment. His current research explores the nature of work and subjectivity within the domain of cultural work, with a particular focus on the discourses of 'enterprise' in community arts practice in Wales. He also collaborates internationally with leading academics within the field of Industrial Relations, focusing his research on questions of self-employment and workplace insecurity in the gig economy.
Previously, Rey worked extensively in the global supply chain and logistics industry. His professional experience fuelled his deep interest in understanding social dynamics in non-standard forms of employment and raising awareness of labour conditions in the contemporary workplace.
