Exciting Opportunity for Swansea Students at the National Eisteddfod

Work experience to produce the Pabell Lên highlights programme for S4C

Two students from the Department of Media and Communications, Swansea University have been given the opportunity to gain work experience as a runner in Y Babell Lên (Literary Pavilion) at the Conwy County National Eisteddfod 2019. Both Brengain Jones and Cai Rhys will work with television company Cwmni Da to produce the Pabell Lên highlights programme for S4C.

This opportunity for Swansea University students has arisen from Swansea University’s sponsorship of Y Babell Lên at the Eisteddfod in Llanrwst and for the next three years. As well as gaining valuable experience of working with one of Wales' leading media companies, the students will also receive an entry ticket to the Eisteddfod for the week, and a ticket to camp and attend music gigs in Maes B ( the Eisteddfod’s youth festival).

Cai Rhys is starting his final year studying for a BA in Media and PR while Brengain Jones has just completed a Masters in Communications, Media Practice and PR.

Non Vaughan Williams, Senior Lecturer in Digital Media at Swansea University's Department of Media and Communications, said: “Being able to offer students work experience like this gives them the opportunity to put into practice the practical skills learned in class, in a busy work environment with a professional company. It is also an opportunity for them to understand the requirements of the workplace, and to get to know individuals who work for the creative industries. ”
