This module will provide an introduction to the anatomy and physiology of the major organ systems as well as providing an overview of some common diseases.
This module will build upon the underpinning knowledge gained in the compulsory year I module PPS107 Foundations in Human Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology. It will provide the opportunity for students to develop and further their understanding of human anatomy and physiology to an advanced level. It will also allow the student to a gain more detailed knowledge of some of common diseases seen in the general population and the current treatment options available.
The module will cover the broad areas of Anatomy and Physiology. The module will cover the fundamentals of biology (i.e. cell structure and function) and chemistry as well as broader principles (such as immunology etc). All of the major organs of the human body will be covered.
This is an introductory module to the structure and function of the human body and how it is affected by disease, delivered with a focus on healthcare science.
This module builds upon existing scientific and clinical knowledge, carrying on the progression to application of knowledge to the clinical environment. Pharmacological aspects of care and management will be incorporated. Students will be encouraged to scrutinize their own practice and discuss rationales for patient management by applying their knowledge of pharmacology and pathophysiology via group presentations.
This module is aimed at emergency medical technicians (EMTs) who would like to access higher education with a view to achieving a recordable paramedic qualification. This module introduces students to core principles that underpin paramedic practice such as research, ethics, law and health promotion. The module will also revisit anatomy and pathophysiology which students have learned during their EMT qualifications.
Mae'r modiwl hwn wedi'i anelu at dechnegwyr meddygol brys (EMTs) sy¿n dymuno cael mynediad i addysg uwch gyda'r bwriad o gyflawni cymhwyster parafeddyg cofnodadwy. Mae¿r modiwl hwn yn cyflwyno myfyrwyr i egwyddorion craidd sy¿n sail i ymarfer parafeddygol megis ymchwil, moeseg, y gyfraith a hybu iechyd. Bydd y modiwl hefyd yn ailedrych ar anatomeg a phathoffisioleg y mae myfyrwyr wedi'u dysgu yn ystod eu cymwysterau EMT.
Building on the previous modules and practice experience, this module will enable learners to enhance their understanding of pathophysiology and develop skills to effectively manage community based care. The module will facilitate learners to undertake a safe consultation that includes the broader issues of health and social care, enabling appropriate clinical decision making that meets the needs of the patient and their relatives or carers. Leaners will develop their understanding of health promotion, appropriate pathways of care and enhance their skills towards effective and safe management of patients within the community setting. Developing problem based learning will be facilitated using a blended approach for professional development; with opportunities for learners to work and learn within an interprofessional setting. Practice based learning will be supported by a week placement in a hospice and a further week placement within the community supported by Palliative and End of Life Care teams. Further placements will be undertaken on an emergency ambulance and or rapid response vehicle with the Welsh Ambulance Service. The module will be supported by e- learning.

Gan adeiladu ar y modiwlau blaenorol a phrofiad ymarferol, bydd y modiwl hwn yn galluogi'r dysgwyr i wella eu dealltwriaeth o bathoffisioleg a meithrin sgiliau i reoli'n effeithiol ofal yn y gymuned a'r tu allan i'r ysbyty. Bydd y modiwl yn rhoi cyfle i'r dysgwyr ymgymryd ag ymgynghoriad diogel sy'n cynnwys materion ehangach iechyd a gofal cymdeithasol, gan eu galluogi i wneud penderfyniadau clinigol priodol sy'n diwallu anghenion y claf a'i berthnasau neu ei ofalwyr. Bydd y dysgwyr yn meithrin eu dealltwriaeth o hybu iechyd a llwybrau gofal priodol, ac yn gwella eu sgiliau er mwyn rheoli cleifion yn effeithiol ac yn ddiogel yn y gymuned. Caiff dysgu ar sail problemau ei ddatblygu drwy ddefnyddio ymagwedd gyfunol at ddatblygiad proffesiynol, a bydd cyfleoedd i ddysgwyr weithio a dysgu mewn lleoliad rhyngbroffesiynol. Caiff dysgu ar sail ymarfer ei ategu gan leoliad gwaith am wythnos mewn hosbis a lleoliad gwaith arall am wythnos yn y gymuned drwy gymorth timau gofal lliniarol a gofal diwedd oes. Bydd lleoliadau gwaith eraill mewn ambiwlans argyfwng a/neu gerbyd ymateb cyflym gyda Gwasanaeth Ambiwlans Cymru. Bydd y modiwl yn cael ei ategu gan e-ddysgu.

This module aims to provide an understanding of the structure and function of the key systems which is a core requirement of osteopathic medicine. This module builds upon knowledge introduced in SHF109 Anatomy and Physiology 1, and develops the understanding of the structure and functions of the key systems of the body. This knowledge will underpin the pathophysiology and therapeutics covered in Year 2.
This module further develops skills for self-monitoring and reflective practice. This module will also consider topics important for the understanding of Osteopathy within the context of the health care.
This module builds on the students¿ knowledge and understanding of human physiological processes which are fundamental to health and wellbeing. Students should extend their comprehension of systems failure and the adverse effect this has on maintenance of health. Students should have a basic understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
